Valentine’s Day Lighting Workshop at New Wave Studio

New Wave Studio in Portland, Oregon, hosted two distinguished Valentine's Day themed photography workshop on the two Saturdays before Valentine’s Day. This exclusive event brought together eight photographers in week one, five photographers in week two, six professional models, two makeup artists, and featured three meticulously crafted sets both weekends, each boasting a distinctive and purposeful lighting setup.

The primary focus of this workshop was the exploration and mastery of creative lighting techniques. Attendees had the unique opportunity to learn from industry experts, delving into the intricacies of using light to shape and enhance visual storytelling. The collaborative effort resulted in a series of exquisite Valentine's themed portrait photographs, demonstrating not only technical proficiency but also a nuanced understanding of the artistry inherent in capturing moments of love and connection.

Valentine’s Day Inspiration

We spent hours searching Pinterest and various other sites to find the ideal looks for our three unique sets, as well as to get inspiration on how to properly light them. Below, you will find the three sets we decided on. These images were the foundation of the whole workshop! We created the sets and lighting arrangements that were used by the photographers and models to produce these remarkable images.
